2B's Bird Book

We are going to make another information book, like the animal book we made in the first term. This time, it is about birds.
Each child has to find out about one type of bird (the name is written in their homework book) and write the information in the correct section of the photocopy I gave them today. If they can get SMALL pictures of their bird, that would be good too.
We will write the texts for the book on FRIDAY this week. Please try and make sure they have the information they need.
Show them how to use encyclopedias and other information books if possible, as well as the internet.
Thank you!

New science topic

Our topic for the rest of the term is investigating different types of MATERIALS. What are the properties of materials? Which ones are good for different jobs? Can we substitute one material for another? What are the advantages / disadvantages of different materials? Where do materials come from?

Thank-you all for your cooperation with the plants topic. Many children brought plants to school, or said they were growing plants at home. The children enjoyed the topic, and went to check the plants in our classroom as soon as we went through the door in the morning! Each group was in charge of a plant experiment. We learnt about plants and what they need to grow well, but also, just as important, we learnt how to conduct an experiment correctly. We have even started some new experiments, which will continue until the end of the term!

Special thanks to Domingo. The lettuce and tomato plants are growing well!

New English theme

The new theme, "non-chronological reports" sounds complicated, but it just means "information texts." We will look at how these texts are composed, and different ways of finding, organising and presenting information.

Certificate winners

Well done Alicia and Diego who got the Spanish certificate for effort and improvement, and Aaron, for collaboration in class.
My certificate went to María Brigida, for working really hard at home to improve her English and her presentation.

There was no headteacher's certificate this week.
